Host a Pelican Party! Learn how the Seabird Station Raised $100,000 in a Night.
As much as we love dogs we were excited to switch things up for this week's animal welfare series. The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station raised over $100,000 in one evening at their Pelican Party! The station is a rescue and rehabilitation site for more than just pelicans. They help an assortment of birds, mammals and even a tortoise or two.
The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station rescues animals but they have recently attracted a thirteen-year-old entrepreneur and hundreds of guests for their annual Pelican Party. Relying on a great deal of volunteer assistance the Seabird Station does what they can to support themselves and raised over $100,000 at their Pelican Party.
The sold out event offered 260 guests cocktails, an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, and a photo-op with ambassador animals. With tickets sold for $125 or a sponsorship table for $5,000, everyone enjoyed mingling and and bidding on silent auction items. Unique items were up for bid like naming rights to their newest animal ambassador, a young owl.
Guests could also purchase pelican socks from Oskar, the thirteen-year-old entrepreneur, and his younger sister. Oskar was introduced to the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station at a local event and quickly got involved. His love of birds inspired him to sell hand drawn tote bags and colorful pelican socks giving all the proceeds to the Seabird Station.
Surrounded by an immense community the Seabird Station is widely recognized as the place to call when there is an animal in need. The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station always embraces any kind of help or support people have to offer. They are a such a hard working and caring organization who is currently trying to expand their operation to rescue and rehabilitate even more animals. We were so happy they could share their story!
