1. Know Your Budget
Conferences can be expensive so do your research and pick the few that fit your nonprofit's needs. Also, be sure to book flights and hotels well in advance to get the cheapest rates.
2. Be Prepared
Join email lists and follow the conference on social media so you don't miss any important updates. Also, familiarize yourself with the agenda and check out everybody who will be attending.
3. Network, Network, Network
Conferences are a great opportunity to meet new and exciting people. Make sure to make connections with both the experts and the other attendees. Don't forget to bring extra business cards!
4. Take Notes
You are going to learn a lot while you're at a conference, make sure to write down the highlights so you can share with your coworkers. Take notes so you remember to follow up with your new connections as well!
